Trumpeter Arthur Flink is no stranger to the Rotterdam jazz scene in general and the nu-jazz scene in particular. With his bands Monsieur Dubois and State Of Monc, he garnered enormous admiration far beyond the national borders. FLiNK is now collaborating with funk veterans RiDE & FLY, a top-notch funk machine! Drummer Rick Assalino and guitarist Marck Heusschen are currently making waves with funk band MOTHERSFONK, and supplemented with guitarist Dave Davis and bassist Bobby Bax, the rhythm section is an irresistible tapestry of power and movement. On keyboards, Maarten “MONSIEUR DUBOIS” Meddens with his signature freaky chords and heavy synths. Think Miles meets James.

Together with drummer Satindra Kalpoe (Anouk, Relax, Tasha’s World) and bassist Luciano Poli, he blends hip-hop and dub with soul and jazz, creating dub-jazz together. Following their debut It’s Dangerous (2019), Prioritize is their second album, on which they further explore the path they embarked on four years ago. Their music still varies between robust, primal Rotterdam power and dazzling beauty and subtlety, with Flink and Kalpoe managing to push each other to the limit or, conversely, slow each other down. This creates a unique jazz sound that is not to be trifled with. Raw, melancholic, solid, heartwarming, but at all times sincere.’
